Session Ending

DeLuca Reacts as the Spring Legislative Session Ends

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – With families increasingly concerned by rising costs, state Rep. Anthony DeLuca, led a successful, bipartisan effort to protect local funding, while further pushing plans to address property taxes.

“It’s critical we respect taxpayers and focus on the issues impacting families,” DeLuca said. DeLuca successfully fought to preserve Local Government Distributive Funding (LGDF) impacting essential municipal services such as police and fire.

DeLuca supported increased investment in education funding, healthcare, and medical debt relief. He successfully fought to restore the property tax relief grant for school districts, which will provide property tax relief and voted no for the tax increases (Senate Bill 3019).

DeLuca successfully secured $300 million from the road fund to be used for local road and infrastructure projects. This is in addition to the $400 million secured in 2024.

"Quality roads and improved infrastructure are vital for safety and expanding economic growth.  There’s still more work to do, but we’ve taken strong steps forward,” DeLuca said.

Highlights of DeLuca’s affordability agenda include:

  • Making groceries and everyday purchases more affordable by giving everyone access to digital coupons so the price people see is the price they pay (House Bill 45)
  • Developing new protections against artificial intelligence (AI) schemes that use personal data to raise prices (House Bill 4248)
  • Expanding utility relief, enabling more households to access home energy assistance (House Bill 4456).

DeLuca also continued his advocacy for local issues, leading passage of a plan to improve road safety in the region (Senate Bill 3275), as well as new standards and investigative tools related to crematories in response to a Chicago Heights business that grossly mishandled human remains (House Bill 4695).

“These are great wins for our area,” DeLuca said. “Summer is not a break. I’m focused on restoring local control and reasonable setbacks for solar farms, and will continue to push for needed property tax reforms.”
