Local Government Funds

Dear Valued Constituent,

As Chairman of the House Cities & Villages Committee and former Mayor of Chicago Heights, I understand how important state funding is for municipal government.

When the state distributes more Local Government Distributive Funds (LGDF) for municipal operations, public safety improves and property taxes stay lower. As crime increases in many communities, the state must contribute this critical funding so law enforcement has the necessary resources to keep our communities safe.

I am once again leading the charge in Springfield to increase the portion of state dollars that are distributed to municipal government through the Local Government Distributive Fund, (LGDF). These dollars will help keep our communities safe and limit future property tax increases.

Please see the attached letter sent to the governor urging his support of HB4169, the bill I’m sponsoring with the backing of many councils of governments from across the state.

Gov Pritzker Letter LGDF

Sincerely,
