For Drama Group Theatre Patrons, Donors, School Administration and Teachers:
The Drama Group will be presenting “Alabama Story” December 9-18, 2016. The synopsis of the show is as follows:
A gentle children’s book with an apparent hidden message stirs the passions of a segregationist senator and a no-nonsense state librarian in 1959 Montgomery, just as the civil rights movement is flowering. Inspired by true events, Alabama Story puts political foes, star-crossed childhood friends, and one feisty children’s author on the same page to conjure a Deep South of the Imagination.
As a Community Outreach Program, the Drama Group will be collecting children’s books from audience members by offering a ticket incentive – buy one ticket and receive one ticket free with the donation of a new or gently used children’s book – for the Thursday, December 15, 2016 performance.
At this time, the Drama Group is inquiring to see if School Principals and teachers would be interested in participating in this program as a recipient of the children’s books collected. If so, please contact Tina Zagone at 708-738-1440 or firstname.lastname@example.org to stop the theatre the week of December 19-23, 2016 or make arrangement after your school’s winter break to rummage through the donated books for you to share with your students.
It is important for the Drama Group to know as soon as possible of your interest, as books will be available on a first come – first served basis. The DEADLINE is December 1, 2016.
The Drama Group is located at 330 W. 202nd Street in Chicago Heights, IL. You can familiarize yourself with our theatre by visiting their website at www.dramagroup.org and navigate your way to all the exciting live theatrical programming offered at Chicago’s Southland Premiere Community Theatre. Thanks in advance for your interest in this Community Outreach Program!
