News from State Rep Anthony DeLuca

To honor those who have served in our nation’s armed forces, I had the pleasure of hosting a free Veterans’ Appreciation Picnic on Friday, July 6th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, located at 19101 Halsted St. in Glenwood.

Over 80 Veterans and their family members attended for conversation, food, and BINGO.  I was joined by elected officials from surrounding communities and the Chicago Heights Veterans Center was present to answer any questions and assist veterans.

Veterans made sacrifices for our safety and freedom that we must not take for granted and they deserve our thanks every day, not just on special holidays and this picnic is a sign of our community’s gratitude for their service.

I would like to thank my volunteer Senior Advisory Committee for all their hard work, dedication, planning, and execution of this successful event.  I would also like to thank Bloom Township, Rich Township, Frankfort Township, Village of Glenwood John H. Blakey Senior Center for their partnership in honoring our veterans on this special day.

I enjoyed visiting with veterans and their families from across the district.
