Budget Negotiation Update

Today on the tenth special session day, the Illinois House took action on the proposed budget bill, Senate Bill 6, Amendment 2, with 90 bi-partisan votes in favor. The proposed budget reduces government spending, while also protecting essential services that protect the state’s most vulnerable citizens.

For the remainder of the day and weekend, negotiations will be taking place on pension reform, property tax freeze, workers’ compensation, and government consolidation. In addition, there are bi-partisan negotiations taking place to discuss the revenue for the 2018 fiscal year budget.

A session has been called for tomorrow, July 1, where we will continue to work together in a bipartisan fashion to pass a fully funded budget.
